Registration questions
Hello,
I need to walk through this process. My site is ready to go. I'm doing Registration checks but I'm having newbie problems. My dummie registrar got accepted for registration but was told "You are currently in the moderation queue to be added..." I go to my message area and nothing - if the dummie is in queue I as the admin should see it to approve? Am I going to the wrong place? Where do I go? All forums on my site are private, members pay elsewhere get a password, come into register and I manually approve. I thought I was going to get a text box for registrars to type in the password. I thought I did that on this site but can't remember where. No text box to type into for my dummie. Where do I go get a text box added? Where and how do I manually approve an individual registrar? Do I have to have real email addresses for my dummie for this registration process? I'll quit with the questions. I thank you helping me! |

In the Admin CP bar, go to Moderation, click moderation users and you get to approve membership or not. One question down.
Go the gmail route I think they have a 5 address limit. I'd like to seed this webpage of mine with 10 members to start off with. Two questions down sort of... Do I always talk to myself? I would never admit to it! Seems like I've been caught here! Yet I'll still answer the question with a resounding no! I'm in learning mode and I have to go through this stuff. If'n it wasn't important to me I wouldn't bring it up. I really do appreciate help that I have been given. |

I don't understand you question about a text box for registrars to type in the password. The registration page should ask for a password (twice actually), so are you asking about on another page?
When I am testing registration on my site, I always use a fake email, but I have emailing turned off on my test site, so it really doesn't matter. |

Other software offer the inclusion of a text box into the registration form I got mixed up with another program.
I am going to manually approve people who register, I'm not collecting money at this point. I need proof of payment. If I gave them the same password the system would not accept that kind of duplication, right? I'm thinking of having my customers tack on a choice of three numbers (23, 45, 27) something like that at the end of their user name. That way at moderation time I can approve anybody with those particular numbers. Will that work? This is yet another lesson for me about fake emails. How do I turn off emailing for testing? I hate free downloads these days they come with upper bars and programs that act like piranhas that's a reason I don't like gmail but felt I might have to use it. Thanks |

If you want to turn off ALL emailing on your site, add this line to your config.php file(s) somewhere under the first line:
HTML Code:
// Good for test boards. This unconditionally disables all emails that vBulletin might have tried to send. define('DISABLE_MAIL', 1); |

The sound going over my head. Then erase it after the test? HTML is in a realm that is out of my league. I'll give it a shot...
Thank you |
