When on my site as a guest the threads say "closed" this confuses non members so I want to remove it completely how can I do that?

Don't see how it would to a guest when they can't tell you this but it looks like thread prefixes (but could also be custom plugin or coding) go to admincp/Thread Prefixes and see if it is Thread Prefixes
