Default CMS Articles HTML issue

Hi all,

I recently inherited the administration of our forum and since the 4.2.2 update a huge number of errors have turned up.

In the CMS articles on our frontpage, some have the HTML content displaying perfectly fine, others have the code exposed. When I go into the aritcles to check the settings, the ones that work have the HTML options in the right control panel. The ones that don't display correctly don't. They have been created by 2 different authors, both of whom have since moved on and cannot or will not help fix it.

How do I re-enable the HTML option in the articles WITHOUT having to recreate them from scratch?

I've already checked the permissions and made sure that I'm able to use HTML content, but I think the problem is that the person that created the non working articles never switched on the HTML option when they originally made the article OR something in the latest update screwed another thing up.

Any help here would be appreciated

I know when I did this, I re-enabled permissions but also, when you click on the pencil to edit the article, there are also 3 options on that edit page that have something to do with HTML.
Not sure if that helps.

Yeah I already tried that. Weird thing is that those 3 options aren't there on most of the articles but are there for some others.

I'm wondering if its because the original author selected NO HTML on it when he created the articles (why they would I dont know) and now that he has left (and is no longer an admin) that somehow the option isn't open to me to change.

I'm going to try logging in as him and see if the option is available again, if not i'm just going to have to recreate everything from scratch.

You can try unpublishing them, make a slight edit with html on and then republish.

He used to be an Admin and now isn't? Probably the usergroup you put him in doesn't have permissions to use HTML in articles and that is why you aren't seeing the option?

Yes this was indeed part of the problem. As I've discovered, if the original author is moved to a different permission group not authorised to use HTML, then the option disappears, even if another admin comes in and tries to change things. The option simply isn't there! So i changed the permission for the group he is in to allow HTML but not create articles and now the option is back and I can change what I need to no problem.

I've sorted that part out now, just need to fix the templates that have errors in them due to the 4.2.2 update and fix the issue with the rep message and I thin we will have a functioning forum once more!

Hi,

I get the exact same problem but there is one difference in my case : the user who created articles asked to be unregistered from our forum, so the articles he wrote are now orphan. And I tried to allow guests to use HTML but it didn't do the trick...

Is there any way to define another author to the article ? Or to add his nickname as guest, and be able to use HTML on his articles ?

Thank you for your answer
