Did you see today's news that Hubub Raises $8.5M To Be The New Home For Conversations On The Web?

What do you think of their thesis? Namely, that on the web, "it’s not terribly easy to surface conversation and have a sustained, engaged dialogue around any particular topic. Threaded comment streams do this to some extent, as do forums, message boards, and even social networks like Facebook and Twitter. But none do thematic or topic-based discussion well, according to Hubub‘s founders, hence the need for the startup."

What do you think of their layout and design?

Upon first view seemed a bit "crowded" on screen although I bet some would argue "no Supes it's a clean and crisp layout just look at it, so smooth" welp that's not me, I say it's toooooo much to be crammed into one space.

But then again that's just me .

If I had to sum it up in two words though it would be "Neat Concept", although for 8.5million anything can be neat, or better!

I agree I think there is almost too much content on screen, like I wasn't sure where to go or what to view. The framework is nice but I can see it being too much for some people

It looks totally disorganized to me when compared to a forum format. Can you imagine trying to find something once there are hundreds of different topics going? It might be good for short term 'conversations' with people who have a short attention span, but I cannot see it being a replacement for a well run, well organized forum.

This is one of the most interactive social media sites out there. The search function is better than google...much cleaner and better UI. It is fantastic and easy to create topics. Blogs are dated and no where near as interactive and visually appealing to the eyes. Having well structured debates where the community weighs in and selects a winner is nothing short of brilliant...I could go on and on about the features...but I am getting bored of typing...lol

I did not explore it enough to really understand it well. Does this just display popular content on the main page and does that content stay there until it loses popularity?

Ya they usually change the front page topics every week (I am not the biggest fan of their front page topics). I get more excited about the search function for topics I am interested in...also creating topics myself. It also has an option to check out people that I am following...I like to look into the type of topics they create. I recently created a Lebron vs Jordan topic....if you type in Lebron any topic created with Lebron in it will show up...anyways should be interesting to see what they do with the money and to see how mobile will play out.
