mark thread as read
so i have a problem kind of.
I installed a mod that gives a notification upon new post in thread that you are subscribed to. and i made it so when people register they automatically have the setting default Thread Subscription Mode set to: no email notification. which means any thread they make or reply in, they automatically are subscribed. the problem is, when a person posts in a thread, they are subscribed to it, and they get a notification about their own post they just made.... I was wondering, could this be fixed somehow, like, could the post button have an additional function, that it runs the main posting function, and then it "marks thread as read" right after, eliminating the notification? will this work? |

Questions/Problems regarding modifications/styles need to be asked in the modification/style thread. That is where the support for modification/style is - not out here in the main forums. Please note that if a modification/style is unsupported (or even if it says it is supported), you may be on your own if you chose to install it.

I may be wrong, but i think this isnt about the modification per-say.
the question is, can a post button also mark the thread as read? |

Ahhh, I get ya now, try this:
ACP --> Settings --> Options --> Server Settings and Optimization Options --> find the setting, Update Thread Views Immediately Try setting it to update immediately. |

actually, it appears it did not fix the issue.... only partially.
what it used to do: (in a thread you are subbed to) you type and hit the post button, the post is send and the page is refreshed, and it shows you have a new notification. and when you leave the thread it still shows you have a notification. what it does now: (in a thread you are subbed to) you type and hit the post button, the post is send and the page is refreshed, and it shows you have a new notification. but when you leave the thread (another page is loaded), the notification is gone, as the page has been marked as read. so there still is the issue of a notification being shown to the user (in my opinion) inappropriately. But I do agree, this does seem like a issue with the mod rather than VB3.x |

Correct, as there is no default notification type in vB
