Urgent help needed!
I'm receiving this error when trying to start a new thread.
Quote:
I've noticed that if I trim down the length of the post, it seems to go through ok. It does not exceed the character limit nor the image limit set on the board. I even receive this error when trying to preview the post and if I try it a few times in a row, eventually the board crashes and takes around a half hour to come back up. This is a new board I am setting up so there are only a few test posts on it so far and I have to get this fixed before really starting to open the board up to members. Thanks to any help anyone can shed on this bug. It really has me stumped. |

Did you check your settings in the admincp options menu under message posting?

All the settings in the adminCP are fine. Character limit is 10000 and image limit is 10. The posts in question are not exceeding either limit. I receive the error with any user group member, from regular member right up to admin.

That is a server error and it means something, most likely mod_security or suhosin, is preventing the post from going through. You would need to talk to your host about the error.

OK, that's about what I thought after trying to search for similar errors. We will contact our host, CH, and see what they can do. We're kinda dead in the water if we can't get this fixed.

Server issue most likely ..
Also check the file permission on the server. All php files should be CHMOD 644 |

It seems it was a server setting. We contacted CH and they made a change in the security settings and now it tests out OK. I've been getting great service from those guys so far, very quick replies to any service ticket or other request. It took them less than 30 minutes to contact us and fix the problem.

My bad. I misunderstood and thought it was an issue making a specific post and not when posting in general. Glad you have it fixed now.

That's what was strange about it. I could post without any problem but when a post got to a certain length, the whole thing just crashed out. It was really strange. I could remove half of the post and it was OK, then I tested it out by adding a bit more content each time, then doing a preview and continued until it crashed. Then I'd remove content and preview again. But if it crashed a few times in a row, it ended up taking the entire board down. I guess it caused the server to reboot and reload my board. Hopefully it's fixed now! LOL
