Urgent: Database Error and then forum redicrects to another website
Hello,
So yesterday, my forum was offline due to a "Database Error". The site would not display. My hosting company recommended to restore from a backup done the previous day (when it was working just fine). The backup was done and now instead of displaying my correct forum, it has redirected to another URL that I also own that was at one point in time a vbulletin forum. So to recap:
Here is one more bit of information that might help: The new URL that is being displayed is set up as the main domain and the site that is SUPPOSED to be displayed is a subdomain (I messed this up when setting up my sites originally but the site was displaying properly for 2 years). Does ANYONE have any idea what is going on? If you need more information or have questions, please don't hesitate to ask... |

Did you do a database restore from backup, or all files (or both)? Is it at all possible that what you restored wasn't really from the previous day?

The restore from backup was done by my hosting company.
I checked in my FTP and there are 2 copies of the public_html folder...one is named public_html.old and the other is public_html (as it should be). So it seems as if they restored all files. |

Can you login to the admincp at all? Have you checked the database and looked at the settings table to see if it is pointing to the correct URL?

So the issue was fixed...it was a combination of my hosting company messing with the database (apparently) and the fact that I'm using a shared server for my forum that cannot support the number of visitors the site receives (I was getting a bunch of "too many connections to MYSQL" errors and the host locked the database).
Time to upgrade to a dedicated server.. |
