How to get homepage as url instead of /content/1-home
When I "upgraded" to 4.2.2 the navigation manager decided it's now impossible to have www.bordersdown.net as my homepage and instead everyone sees http://www.bordersdown.net/content/1-home
Bloody ridiculous. It worked fine in the previous version. This thread suggests custom code is needed to allow the URL to be the homepage. Does anyone have any idea how to do this? My pagerank has dropped from 3 to 2 - I'm fairly certain it's because of this (it happened shortly afterwards - could be conincidence though). |

It's not like that on my 4.2.2 site at all. When I go to www.site.com, it shows the CMS but the url stays at www.site.com. However, if I later click around and then click on the Home tab, it goes to www.site.com/content.php
What is set in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Content Management > Default Page and Site Tab URL? And what is entered as the tab URL in the Navigation Manager? |

Thanks for looking Lynne
Default page = "1-Index" Site tab = "content.php" Not sure what you mean by the tab url in the nav manager (I know what the nav manager is), but I think you mean the Target URL on the default tab? If so: "content.php{session.sessionurl_q}" |

Those are all exactly the same as on my test site. What do you have entered in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name/URL/etc > CMS Component URL ?

Huh. Weird.
And CMS Component URL is blank. edit: I checked the "SEO URL Alias" in the top level section and it's "home" (not "index"). I then changed the default page to "1-home" (instead of "1-Index") and it now goes to .net/content/ (for which pagerank is 0!). I still can't get my main bordersdown.net url to stay put without it auto-adding the /content/ but do you think I'm moving in the right direction? I tried the suggestion in this thread about modifying index.php but it didn't help so I unmodified it. |

What type of Friendly URLs are you using? Mine is set to Basic Friendly URLs right now.

I have mine on mod rewrite. If I change to basic friendly, it shows .net/content.php

Then I would guess this is some server setting because mine doesn't act like yours at all.

Ok thanks Lynne. Much appreciated.
Oddly, if I set the forum as the default tab, it works fine. |
