Removing CMS and redirects not working

Hello

I have recently removed the CMS section of my forum, replaced the CMS articles with my own pages and added 301 redirects into my .htaccess

However, I am finding if someone follows an old link to a page within the CMS, rather then being redirected to its new page the forum software instead redirects to the forum index.

How do I stop this from happening?
