Sure it could hurt- it could increase spam. Plus I just can't trust a site using Google's name that clearly is NOT a Google project. Very shady.

Personally I wouldn't notice it if it did increase spam, since I'm immune.

But seriously, I researched it before trying it and it is reputable with no adware, spyware or anything like that, and it works as advertised - the crawlers came. Used it on two sites and a friend who posts here used it on his as well. neither of us noticed any resulting spam or any type of attacks on our sites.

Wouldn't just about anything one does to get a site out there have some chance of increasing spam?

Google accounts for 70% of web searches, Bing about another 20% and Yahoo around 7% so that leaves around 3% ( rough guess) so you are already reaching about as much of th global population as you can, do I really want all those spiders from China and Eastern Europe crawling my site.

Plus when you look at the bots they are pinging, a lot of them are Google country specific, so unless you have some form of translator it probably wont be of much help anyway.

All good points. Of course, you can select/deselect the various spiders.
