Had vBSEO on a new forum, should I keep it installed, or reinstall without it?
I am in the (slow) process of setting up a vB 4 forum.
I had installed vBSEO a while ago, when it was still semi-alive, and I liked the rewrite options that it gives, and the URL rewrite options for the forums (if it matters, I set it to 002 - Hierarchic directory type URLs with content relevant threads). I still haven't done much set up work, or opened my forum, so it wouldn't be a big deal to reinstall vB and set it up without vBSEO. Question is, if vBSEO is still working (I believe I applied a fix which was mentioned somewhere, which causes it not to check with their now retired site), does it make sense to keep it, if it will give me better SEO, and more elegant looking URLs? Or should I be re-setting up my vB installation without vBSEO? Thanks! |

Don't even think about using it. You can't in earnest consider to install a product that's absolutely dead?

It's already installed, and still working.
If it's really not worth using, I can always reinstall vB, but is there any real reason not to use it, if it still works? |

If your forum is not yet open (or has been closed a long time), then remove it and start with the build-in URLs. What do you gain if you gather content under URLs which you will have to change again in the foreseeable future?
And why do you think you need to reinstall vB in order to get rid of vBSEO? |

I liked the vBSEO style of URLs, but if it won't make much of a difference, I guess I may as well get rid of it.
And If I do get rid of it, it seems like it might be easier to just start again from scratch, than to try to remove all parts of vBSEO. |

Be aware Dragonbyte has a new SEO product (currently in beta) that will seemlessly take all your old vBSEO settings and import them into their new mod. No need to worry about losing any rankings or trying to figure out hundreds of redirects. You'll easily be able to go from the unsupported and now defunct vBSEO to their supported DBSEO product with tons of great new options.

As far as I know, it will be open beta Monday, which means you would have to get the pro version. If not alot of issues come in, then I would guess that it would have a lite version in one to three weeks after the open beta.
This is just a guess, I do not know this for sure. |

Yes I did, keyword is use to I am now coding on my own.
That's why I can not say for certain when the mod will be available, I am only going by what I have read. --------------- Added [DATE]1386036305[/DATE] at [TIME]1386036305[/TIME] --------------- Seems like DBSeo is now available for open beta, and if you go to their site, and read the most recent blog, there is a coupon code in there for it, that is for one week only. |
