Need help

I'm not even sure where to begin. I haven't used my forum in years. It got hacked a long time ago, and I just never bothered fixing it. But in case that said hacking could cause issues elsewhere on my server, I thought I'd try to clean up.

I was running an older version of vB 4. I upgraded to the latest version, 4.2.1. However, the board is turned off and I can't remember my admin password to get into the Admin CP. So I can't even make a new account and use config.php to make a new account an admin.

I'm pretty sure one thing that's giving me troubles is that the Admin CP style doesn't seem to get along with the new version. I get plain white screens with black text, like it's not reading the style at all.

Is there some way to sort of revert all settings without losing any real database information? I don't want to lose anything.

How do you know the AdminCP style is messed up if you can't log in?

I'm working on some php files and I can generate a hashed password you can edit in to your account in the user table. PM me your salt value and I'll PM back a log in password and the hashed version for the database.

Sorry. It's not the Admin CP style, it's...something else. If you go to the main board page, you see the default style. But when you try to login, you get the no-style white page.

Anyway, I managed to reset my password, and right now, it looks like I'm back in business. I had to disable hooks by adding the bit of code to config.php. If I run into trouble though, I'll be back. Thanks.
