Embed Javascript

Hi, I'm trying to embed javascript to my site. I've enabled it through admin cp but can't seem to get any javascript to work on forum posts.

Any help would be great. Any suggestions welcome. Pros/Cons welcome as well. I've heard of security issues with having javascript - can it also be limited to a usergroup such as admin, moderators?
