vBulletin 3.8.8
Hello,
My PHP version is 5.3.3 and I don't know if it is compatible with new vBulletin version 3.8.8, or I have to upgrade PHP to 5.4. Thanks |

3.8.8 (Beta) = PHP 5.4
3.8.7 = PHP 5.3.x If you can upgrade to PHP 5.4 please do so for security reasons. I forgot what it's called, but the new PHP 5.4 completely devalues a certain string of a code's value and helps slightly prevent XSS or Injections. Not only that, but: PHP 5.4.0 significantly improves performance, memory footprint and fixes over 100 bugs. |

The problem is that most of mods (and as we know huge percentage of vBulletin 3.8 powered sites is heavily moded) are not updated to work with php 5.4 and some may require such update (most probably not but the bigger chunks of php code there the bigger chance such scenario may occur). So updating the core without knowledge how to update the rest might not be a good idea.
Just sharing my thoughts. |
