vBadvanced CMPS vs. vBulletin CMS ???
Fri 24 May 2013, 9:50 am
Hi All, I can't seem to generate any discussion over at the vBadvanced forums, so thought I would try here. I am sure it has been discussed before, but with no obvious conclusion. First of all, I HATE VB CMS. No matter what I do, I can't seem to set permission that will allow non-registered guests to view CMS without logging in. As CMS is supposed to be my home page, that is a deal breaker, obviously! Generally, I just find the thing to be overwrought, difficult to learn and use. In spite of the fact that there are many tutorials, most of them show you how to do one specific, little thing such as change a layout . . . but with very little concern that you know what a layout is or why you would want to change it or how that fits into the overall idea of CMS. As a consequence, after fooling around with it for a couple of months, I am able to add article and widgets, but not elegantly, and I don't really have a better sense of a overall design or presentation strategy. For example, how do you decide how many columns, or how much of an article to display, or to have several little previews as opposed to more complete views. Dozens of little questions, and no good guidance about it that I have been able to find. Anyway, I might like to change to vBadvanced while moving content form CMS is a still a relatively manageable project. It looks a lot easier and maybe all I need for showcasing my affiliate links, the occasional news item and announcement, and importing some some forum posts. As I write this, I guess I am really looking for a just a portal rather than CMS. Has anyone else been through this and have any opinion about vBadvanced CMPS vs. vBulletin CMS? Discussions and suggestions much appreciated. Thanks! Rex Khon Kaen, Thailand http://www.mindbodythailand.net VB 4.2 |
