Impex Problems

Hi everyone i have only just joined vbulletin but having nothing but problems. I am trying to convert from IPB to Vbulletin and believe it or not i have been sat here for over five hours trying to get away from this error:

ImpEx Database error

mysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed

But just cannot get past it, everyone is telling me on the main vbulletin website that the details i have put in must be wrong or on different servers ect and they are not they are correct and i have even tried changing the passwords ect on each database to see if that will work and it wont.

I have also deleted everything and started fresh from the start but again i get the same problems. Can anyone help please? I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

This tells me that you have installed vb in another db than that of your Ipb forum, am I right in this assumption?

For the conversion to go smoothly you will have to install vb in the same db as that of the Ipb forum or at least make sure that the db users have full access/permissions to the other databases. i.e. ipb db user has full access to the vb db and vice versa.

Thank you so much for your reply, i have asked so many people about this and you seem to be the only one with a possible answer to this.

In answer to your post, yes i have setup my new vbulletin in a different database. So do i need to reinstall and set the database the same as my old forum?

It doesnt matter if they are in separate db's or in one single db.

The main concern is that the credentials in the impex config file are correct.

Source = IPB

Target = VB

The credentials for each db have to be correct, host, user, pass & prefix

Yeah they are all correct to even convince me they were right i asked my host to check and he confirmed they are fine.

I know someone said "mysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed" means the information i have added must be wrong but like i say it matches the details of my database and username and password which have been checked by my host.
