My board used to be UBB, but I converted it to vB 1.5 when it was out. But there are still some things left over from UBB... for example, old signatures. I guess the vB import script didn't try to determine if posts had signatures in them or not, and since UBB signatures weren't dynamic like they are in vB, the old ones are still there.
Basically what I want to do is find all messages with a UBB-style signature, strip it out, and set the properties for that post to "signature on" or whatever so it would display the signature for that user from his current vB profile. What this would need to do is look for the thing that distinguishes a UBB-style signature, and that is that dashed line: ------------------ Note that is exactly 18 dashes, by my count. It is thus exactly 18 dashes in a row, and nothing else, that should be searched for. If it finds that in any post, it, and everything after it, should be removed. Then the signature should be turned on for that post. Does that make sense? I'm not sure exactly where this belongs (what forum to post this in), but I'm hoping someone can help me. If this is successful, then we'll work on looking for HTML blockquote tags and converting them into vB "quote" tags... |

This would be a much welcomed tool, I wish I could do the same thing.
