I looked in the backend, couldn't see anything that could do it, and don't know enough to know exactly what I am looking for in the FORUMDISPLAY template, but kept breaking it so figured I'd check my luck on here.

In the forumdisplay template remove or change this:
$vbphrase[thread] / $vbphrase[thread_starter]
