Hello,

I am trying to upload a .png image as an attachment for a article on my site. However after the .png sucessfully uploads, the attachment manager displays the image as a .jpg. Is this normal? It's a problem because the image I am trying to attach is a transparent .png and obvioulsy I loose that when it is converted to .jpg.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I can't say that I've ever seen that happen.
Do you have .pngs in your attachment manager options?

Yes. Files sizes are the same as other similar file types, i.e... .jpg
