keyword spam protection

I used to use a mod for 3.8 called Check4Spam which is not in mod graveyard unfortunately. I'm looking for something similar for 4.2.0

I need these functions:

- no links / images unless minimum forum post count
- usergroup set permissions (enable/disable feature per usergroup)
- no images unless minimum post count
- spam keyword block (such as [dot], [img, .com, etc for those who try to work around the filter backend)
- keyword whitelist

http://akismet.com/ This is built into 4.2. Works fairly well

Akismet won't allow custom keyword censors and whitelisting and other features I mentioned though.

okay, i didn't know that. Let me ask some questions:

1. do you have captcha enabled for registration?
2. do you allow guest posting?
3. are these spambots or regular members who are posting the unwanted content?

1. No, but all registrations are put into moderation queue first. I use Q&A verification instead.
2. No
3. Not spambots but just new members who come to advertise self products or cause problems (trolling)

registration challenges really dont hold up anymore. spammers will register a valid account and then use it later to cause trouble.

I think an intelligent spam detection system should be developed sooner rather than later. it's just a giant undertaking.

I'm already using that but its based off an external filter, not custom words.
