I am trying to censor a certain word, when I navigate to options/settings/censorship options and enter the word(s) I want censored, I go back to the forums and they are still there. I've tried just entering the word as well as using {} marks. Ive updated the post cache. What am I doing wrong? is there another censorship area or something?

Try going to the adminCP, Maintenance > General Update Tools and run "Rebuild Post Cache".

doh, figured it out. You have to "enable" censorship for it to work!!
