Different user types?
I run a photographer community, and I'm concidering to open up for models as well. But is there a mod (or default product) that allows new users to pick between different user types? E.g. "Model" and "Photographer"? And do so that the choice is viewable to other members of the forum, and maybe give them different permissions?
I know it can be done manual, but I would like the users to do it themselves. Possible?? Thanks. |

There's this mod (which BirdOfPrey5 just pointed out to me): https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=267585
You could place them in a different group depending on a profile field, and the groups could have different permissions. Also, here's an article on displaying a profile field in the postbit: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=250418 |

Thanks.
But do I have to manually place them in different usergroups afterwards, or can this mod do this for me? Can't really tell from the mod thread. |

I think that mod should do it for you. Normally when a user registers they will end up in usergroup 2, but with that mod you can select which group they will automatically end up in, depending on the value of a custom profile field. (I haven't used the mod myself, but that my understanding of what it does).
