Several questions

Hello,

I have several questions.

1) I would like to be able to change the display name of the widgets on the main page. For example, I have a calendar widget, who's header displays the term "Calendar". Instead, I would want to have it say something like "Past Updates". How would I do that?

2) What is the best way to do a total backup of my publishing suite, where all the settings, styles, layouts, forum posts, blog posts, CMS posts and so on would be saved to some file that I can download?

3) If I customize my navbar to have additional links and I have a multi language site, how would I be able to translate those links into other languages?

4) Can I create my own template variables?

5) Can I output any PHP variables in the template editor?

On the Widget page, click "Go" next to the dropdown with "Edit" selected, and you can change the title.

I don't know of any way other than to make a backup of the database.

If you use phrases for the text, you can provide a translation for each language you have.

I'm not sure exactly what these mean. You can use a php variable in a template by registering or preRegistering it (probably preRegister if you want to use it in an existing template). Here's an article that describes that: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=228078

Ok. Got the first issue.

What way do you recommend backing up the database?

As for whether I use phrases for the text, I'm not sure if I use them. I only recently installed my vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite and haven't modified anything language-wise, other than uploading a language pack (though it is incomplete and needs work). Basically, I'd like to have the user select their preferred board language and have the board text be displayed in that language.

I also have an additional question which might be related to the language issues. If I want to change the name of the "Home" link or "Forum" link in the navbar to say "Homepage" or "Forums", respectively, how would I go about doing that?

Lastly, when it comes to the PHP variable issue, I'm looking into having forumdisplay.php display the whole "What's Going On" section (that is currently displayed on forum.php), but only for certain type of "forums", specifically, level 2 forum categories. I figure if I can determine whether a given forum is a category AND is a level 2 forum inside the PHP file itself, then I can have a boolean variable there that I can then access from the template and then just put it in a template "script's" conditional statement; and everything would work out from there. The link you gave me in you last reply appears to be helpful, but I just wanted to run by you what I am looking into doing.
