Vbseo
Whats everyones opinion on keeping VBSEO?
Been debating on removing it, and to be honest, I do not have a compelling reason. Read a few post on some other forums arguing to "keep it" and to "remove it". Anybody have any input? |

I would say, remove it.
I like vBSEO and it can help with your SEO rating, but overall I believe its a little more trouble than it's worth. It uses a lot of resources. And among all the modifications I've used, it had the highest chance of conflict..... Look around vBulletin.org and you'll see how many modifications actually need special settings turned on, off, changed, or modified simply to comply with vBSEO and most of them have nothing to do with re-write rules. Template customization open a whole new door when removing vBSEO ... ie... There are a lot of "tweaks" that just don't play so well with VBSEO and upon removing it... You'll open up a lot of possible future options for yourself. Back to the idea of resources.... If you have a really busy community .... You'll see the improvement right away with removing it. Will your SEO rating drop? At first yes. Anytime you made such a change, expect to see an impact. It could take a month or so for search pages to directly to your links, even with a redirect script in place. I know what it offers and on face value I like it. But overall you'll gain more in dropping it. --------------- Added [DATE]1324608905[/DATE] at [TIME]1324608905[/TIME] --------------- edit: There are currently 155 users online. 5 members and 150 guests 1/2 of those 150 guest are Google, Bing, Yahoo, Alexa, and Baidu ... And all without VBSEO |
