Quick Style Chooser Keeps Dissapearing

My Quick Style Chooser has been missing for months now, and I haven't really tried to get it back until last night. Never really understood why it disappeared to begin with, but it was absent across all styles. After going though all the usual steps I would tell anyone else to try if they had the same issue, I re-uploaded all my includes folder items and that seemed to do that trick...

For about two seconds. The page suddenly reloaded with a PHP error I don't quite remember and when I refreshed the page, it had disappeared again. Re-uploaded them again last night, got it back. Stayed there for hours, was gone again this afternoon. What in the sam-hill could be rewriting PHP files? Or is something else I'm missing?

Your php error may be in your error_logs - so definitely go look in there. That is probably the clue to what is going on.

I'll try and keep a close eye on it tonight and see if I can pinpoint when it happens. It disappeared again just a moment ago but I was away for about an hour. Seems to vanish when I refresh the page, ironically, while working on styles. The PHP error from yesterday is long gone, though. Wish I'd thought of that then. My error_logs are perpetually jammed with denied IPs and File Not Found errors. Would it be in my Raw Access Logs? cPanel serves them up as a DOS application, but I can't seem to find a way to open it that doesn't cost a kinda ridiculous amount.

Oh, by .htaccess did you mean if I saw any .htaccess related errors? I saw two, but they were related another one of my domains. I did see a script not found or unable to stat: /cgi-bin/stats error, of which I don't know enough about cgi to know if that's relevant.

Do you have $config['Datastore']['class'] = 'vB_Datastore_Filecache'; in your config.php? That would try to cache the datastore in includes/datastore. Maybe the php scripts don't have write permission there or something?

Did you turn off the plugin/hook system to see if maybe a Mod you installed is causing this bizarre issue?
