Default I broke the Script Name for Forum Home Page

Ok, I was trying to change "Script name for home page" from "Forum" to "Wrenching Wenches Garage Door" to try to work on making front page. See screen shot here.

http://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/i.../i-FqsHjfD.jpg

Well what I did was damage the link.

When I click "Formu Home Page" on this screen...

http://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/i.../i-jXJ7Khf.jpg

I get this...

http://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/i.../i-nXjxJFk.jpg

Instead of this...

http://wrenchingwenches.com/forumdis...5-Howdy-You-ll!

I wanted the link named "Forum" here...

http://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/i.../i-q9FNbgf.jpg

To be a portal, if I'm using that word correctly, that would be like a front door of sorts. A place for things like rotating images, forum statement and the such. CLEARLY I'm, an idiot. Sorry.

I wanted the link on the above screen shot named "Wrenching Wenches Motorcucle Network" to direct to the page the "Forum" USED to derect to before I broke it. That page looked like this...

http://wrenchingwenches.com/forumdis...rcycle-Network

But the sub-forums were collapsed.

Oh, and it broke the link when I click the Logo too....

http://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/i.../i-PmHGdtS.jpg

Can you help me please.

What does this mean? "This option allows you to set the script name of the page that acts as your forum home page. By default this will be 'forum' (meaning forum.php but you may want to call it whatever else you like for your own purposes.

If you change this value you must manually rename the forum home PHP script to match the new value."

How do I "manually rename the forum home PHP script to match the new value."?

Didn't I already see a thread about this?

If you put "abcdef" in the text area for the script name, then that means you have a script named "abcdef.php" That is the actual script (php file) name.

Yes you did but no one replied to my last post asking for further help on vB.com

I'm sorry.

I really am trying to understand how to do this. I'm watching all the YT videos and I have the on-line manual up and running all the time and I google for every question I come up with.

My major problem is understanding the language.

When someone says I need to change the script php to match, I don't know what that means or how to go about it.

Again, I'm sorry and if a Mod wants to delete this thread I understand.

When you downloaded vbulletin, you got a bunch of files that look like xxxxx.php. Those are php scripts. That text area that you are changing is only for the name of the script - the php file. I don't think it is really something you want to change at all.

Thank you Lynne.

I didn't D/L vB, URLjet did.
I'll try yet again to get them to help me.

It's been frustraiting dealing with the service ticket system, that's why I came here and the vB.com forums.

I'm dead in the water until I can resolve this issue.

Change that field back to just "forum"

What is it exactly that you are trying to do?

I did that but it's still broken.
That was my first response.

I wanted to create a front page, portal, front door sort of thing.

Something like this, that when the little house icon it would take you there.
And "click to enter" would take you to the forum main page.

That's a test image as I don't own the rights to it.
I'll replace it with a pic I take.

So basically you want a splash page? If not and you want more advanced features then you can either purchase the vBulletin Suite and utilize the CMS as your "portal" or use vBAdvanced Content Management Portal System (it's free simply Google it) .

Thank you.
Yes, that's it.

At most in the begining, just what I linked.
Perhaps in the future, a year or so from now, maybe revolving images of women working on their bikes.

But for now, just a simple splash page.
Can I do that with vB4?
