Is there a speed up hack?

I have Vb 2.0.0 and would like a hack that would help make the forum run faster.

tips.

1. read and follow instructions at
http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=22736

2. read
http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?act...le&articleid=3

3. read
http://www.mysql.com/doc/O/p/Optimizing_the_Server.html

4. read
http://www.mysql.com/doc/L/i/Linux.html

5. enable gzip in vB admin if you have php compiled with zlib

6. if not zlib compiled in php, install mod_gzip to compress webpages and load pages faster

Which is better - having the host recompile php to enable gzip or installing mod_zip?
