Tried to install vBulletin 4.17 on subdomain. Mostly broken.
Hey,
First, I've installed vBulletin about 3 times, for testing (including using impex) before I tried this installation. However I made the mistake of not testing it on a subdomain. I'm brilliant. So I've setup vBulletin on my site (www.2point0studios.com\forum) and then gone and swapped out it's homepage and url settings for forums.2point0studios.com. This was after a call to godaddy to help with setting up the subdomain, and feeling condfident, that after the DNS propogated, it would all work nicely. That was on saturday the 22nd. I can turn my spam-tastic PHPBB3 forums back on, but I'd rather nut this one out. If you visit my forums, you will see that they do kinda load, but all content that is found at www.forums.2point0studios.com does not load. I'm trying to seperate out what the heck is the cause of this: a) Bad installation. Should have begun with forums.2point0studios instead of changing it later. b) Subdomain is badly setup on Godaddy's end, and one click in the right spot will fix it all. c) Database settings are incorrect, and need to be changed by logging directly into the database. I don't quite know enough to diagnose the issue. If it were all in C#, it would be a lot easier... Can anyone give me a clue as to what is the cause of my woes? -- Jarryd |

I know how you feel, I think, because I'm a programmer but don't know everything about all the server and DNS stuff. But it looks to me like your forum is at forums.2point0studios.com but www.forums.2point0studios.com does not exist (there is no DNS entry for it), and so you either need to change all your options/config.php entries to forums.2point0studios.com or get godaddy to create a www.forums.2point0studios.com alias for forums.2point0studios.com (or maybe that's something that can be done yourself, I'm not sure).

Thanks for the fast response.
I've got forums.2point0studios.com setup over at the godaddy domain management in the hosting control center. It's pointing to \forum folder on the server, so is forum.2point0studios.com Godaddy claims my database is configured incorrectly. However the busted forums I have now, actually show content it could only get from the database (forums, topics, people who posted last) it's just all the content and images that vbulletin could not find at forums.2point0studios.com that does not load. I'll recheck my vbulletin config file though. Good place to start. |

Yeah, if you want to access your forum through http://forums.2point0studios.com then I think they are right, it looks like somewhere in your settings or config.php you have a www in front of it.

Oh poo.
If I've stuck a www. in front, and it's not in my config in /includes Then does that mean I gotta go find it in the database? |
