Where does width style come from?

Good morning,

So I am attempting to create an area at the top of the blog page showing recent comments rather than just displaying them in the sidebar.

I figurd out that the recent comments can be called from this:

{vb:raw recentcommentbits}

But if I place this in the top part of my template, the avatars for the comments are on the far left, and the comments are squeezed to the far right. I have searched high and low, but I just don't understand where the style is coming from. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
