Modifying the navbit/breadcrumb

My current breadcrum/navbit is kinda long and I want to make it shorter. The current one is: Home >> Forum >> Main category >> Forum > Thread title ...so imagine I want lose some of the levels such as "Main category". Where can I customize this?
