Default forum slow to load all pages suddenly... Hosting company says its the forum

Hi,
My forum is suddenly very slow to load the main page, or any page you navigate to. I'm running version 4.xx. It has been running for over 3 years with no loading speed issues, but suddenly started taking a very long time to load. Upon contacting the hosting company, they are saying I should disable extra plug ins, optimize the database, etc.. I'm only running 1 plugin (miserable users) and i did optimize the database which was no help. The forum is small, low traffic (usually 8 to 10 people on at a time between registered users and guests) and all pictures/videos are hosted remotely through photobucket or youtube. They also suggested I step up to a dedicated server or another type of server they offer, both of which are 5 times or 10 times what I'm paying now. I'm kinda suspicious they are trying to sell me something and have changed some kind of setting to slow down the speed. It was literally an overnight thing, one day it was like it always had been, the next it was super slow. Nothing that I know of changed on the forum, no crazy increase in traffic, 100 new posts or something of that nature etc... I'm hosted with TMD hosting if anyone has had any experience with them. Any real way to check whether the slow loading is because of the forum or because of the server/hosting?

Thanks for any help,
Jason

You should link it here to see what others' experiences are.

Check on AdminCP main page, look at the Server Load Averages

If you're seeing numbers like 50s and up on server load, chances are it's some other site that is also on your shared hosting having the issues, like a DoS attack, or some such.

Its slow to load on my computer at work, and members I have talked to have complained that its slow as well. When I submited the support ticket TMD did verify that it is slow to load, then gave me the suggestions above.

What did the server loads used to be and what are they now? Have they increased? Did you try asking your host if they have changed anything on your server - either changed configurations, updated software, or added new sites?

I honestly didn't really pay attention to the server load numbers, other than looking at the bottom of the main page to see how many people are online. As I said, usually there are 10 or less people on the forum at any given time that I've been on. I haven't added a bunch of new members and haven't seen any huge increase in traffic or posts.

Here's what the admin cp says: 9.64 9.91 7.41 | 6 Users Online (2 members and 4 guests)

I'm not familiar with what the first 3 numbers are... Obviously not many people on the forum though.

The hosting company is supposed to be checking into the problem since I replied that I did the database optimization, only have 1 plugin, and its still slow. They said they verified the server is in "absolutely healthy state"

Thanks for the suggestions and info.

Ok I just did some reading on the admin cp and found the explanation of the 1st 3 sets of numbers... Sounds like they are very high, though I'm not sure why, there aren't any people on the forum. Sorry I'm not that vbulletin savy, its a pretty basic forum.

What is this about??? I just found this at the bottom of the page on my forum, I've never gotten any emails or heard anything about it, could that have something to do with the slow speeds?

Ya something isn't right, and now I got that message at the bottom of one of the pages I was looking at. I also pasted that onto the support ticket to TMD. They asked for a link to view it, and now that message isn't showing up on any of the pages... I don't know what the hell is going on.

Pretty sure it's not the software. I really feel for ya, I've had to move a board before too, no fun.
