BB Code question
Hi everyone,
I added a new [url] BB code to my forum. On a member account he or she can put the custom signature text for the URL. However, in my administrator account it will only let me put a URL and not the custom url text. I don't have a clue why the forum is doing this and was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, Mike |

You should not have been able to add another bbcode called [url]... What was wrong with the built in tag?

Sorry, I think I explained it wrong. I went to the add new bb code in the admin control panel.
In the Title, I entered BB code List In the BB Code Tag Name, [ url=Option][/url ] In the Replacement, <a href="{option}">{param}</a> In the Example, [ URL][/URL ] This is the understanding I got from reading the Explanations and BB Code List. Most of all this is my first forum, this BB Code is new to me, and I am a little confused what to enter. I only used spaces in the brackets for this post only. I understand the code won't be read with spaces. Thanks for your response, Mike |

Then you could use it like [mybb]test code[/mybb] in your posts. If you want to use the option you set the "Use Option" to "YES" option. Then you could use : [mybb="stuff"]test code[/mybb] You would never enter [] or "Option" in the BB Code Tag Name field. Problem 2: url is already a built in BBCode, You can't make a new one called url and there is no reason you would need to, the built in bbcode works exactly how you want it to. Here's a sample BBCode you can look at to get an idea what goes where: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=250322 |
