Is there a MOD for monitoring users PMs
On my phpBB Forum I have a mod that allows me ( Admin ) to monitor what users are doing via PM. I have found this MOD very useful in tracking users who are spamming others and users harassing others.
I am in the process of setting up my vBulletin Forum and I would like to add this MOD if there is one available. I have searched for one but I have had no luck so far. |

Prolly won't either. Just my opinion but if I found out that an dmin was watching my PM's, I would delete my account ASAP.
On that note, I remember way back when someone came out with a mod that did this for 3.x |

I have it written in the rules of my forum that admin can view all members PMs. If it is written in the rules I don't see why it would be a problem.

If a member gets an offensive PM they can simply forward it to the mods or admin. Otherwise I have to agree with not hanging around for long. PM= private message. Which means its content is only for the person it was sent to.

I'll put in my 2 cents: 'private message' is the name of the feature, to distiguish it from messages displayed to everyone on the forum. It's not a guarantee of complete privacy. IMHO it would be unwise to assume that PMs you send are private, on any forum. They're just stored as text in a database table, and every forum owner has access to the database. And if someone has access to write a plugin, they have the ability to read all the messages in the database.
For the record, I don't read anyone's PMs. |
