A code mod for 3.8 to 4.0

Ok so I was directed from Vb.com over here. Here is what I posted at VB.com https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...-in-3.8-to-4.0 and was given https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231525

Now that might as well be written in German, French, Swahili or some other language because I have no idea how to do it. What I need is a simple explanation with the code like Jake did here. https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...-Forum-Listing

What it does is add an image next to the forum on the main index page. I have upgraded so I can't send you to the site to see the old 3.8 version.

Can someone please post it like Jake did so my little pea brain can comprehend it?
