Is there a hack available that allows you to specify a display depth for each category?

Example:
I would like to have one category display like this:

forum
category
category
category

and another like this:

forum
category
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum
category
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum
category
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp ?forum

Is this possible?

I'm not aware of any setting you can use to change the depth per category. The Admin CP option set this for all forums.

Admin CP -> Change options -> Forum Home Page Options -> Depth of Forums

That's what i thought. I wondered more if there was a hack that allows you to do this.

I haven't heard of such a hack, but you could always ask in the Requests forum.
