Default help with moving servers

I have transferred my website file across to my new host and uploaded my SQL database.

My current site it located here: www.bushcraftoz.com

and my new hosted forum is here: http://122.201.72.145/~blamui9/www/b...rums/forum.php

Ive updated the url info in admin cp but im lost as to the next step. Yes ive read the moving servers manual but cant work out a few things.

1. The links on the left in the admin cp; a few of them are surrounded by this *[ ]*, what does that mean?

2. How do get all the internal links posted on my forum....(links pointing to other threads) to access my new address? If you look at this post for example you will see they all point to the old address: http://122.201.72.145/~blamui9/www/b...ase-Index-List

3. I still want to use the domain www.bushcraftoz.com in the end so what do i need to do so that when someone goes to www.bushcraftoz.com it accesses my new host not my old one?

Please be aware im very very new to this so please if possible give me plenty of detail. A step by step is what i need.

I thank you for your help in advance.

Getting users to the new site.

Go to your domain registrar and repoint the dns to the new nameservers (you'll get them from the new host).

Your data bases are going to be out of sync as users are currently posting to the old server.

thanks Willio for your reply.

At the moment im just getting everything lined up and working then when im ready i will bring the current forum down and update the database.

So if i bring down the old forum and then backup the my sql database i can upload the database to the new host and bring the new forum online and the old one down with a link to the new forum address.

Then i can update the nameservers?

I assume after i update the name servers that the internal links will start working again?

So whats the deal with the menu bar on my new test server?

Thanks again for your help so far!

Can you reupload the xml folder inside the includes directory and see if it will be fixed?

permissions issue most likely, owner or chmod is incorrect.

Hi guys I have solved the problem with the admin cp by deleting the databse and reuploading? werid.

I have moved my forum across from my old host to my new one and it seems to be running well. However I get a server error when I try to make a search of any kind. This didnt happen with the old host and I have keep the files exactly the same. I have then tried updating to the latest vbulliten which was sucessfull but ther search is still down.. any ideas?

The 500 error, its a server side error, not from the client side. maybe you have set a wrong url link in the database, or wrong charater in the url config(you set another character set?) or a bad config in the server.

Try to email to your host
