Email Queue - Multiple Forums - One Server - Thousands of Members

Hi,

I have a server with a bunch of vb forums on them. Quite a few are getting popular now. We have around 25,000 members on one, 20,000 on another, 15,000 on another and so on.

Now I'm running into issues when I send emails. We've changed the email option at server level to send 50,000 emails in a batch and not just 500 per hour.

However when I do send an email out on all forums, we get lag.

Apparently VB is opening a connection, sending an email, closing the connection, and repeating that process for all emails. And what we could do with it doing is opening a single connection, sending all emails, and then closing the connection.

Is there an option to do that somewhere in VB's setting?

Failing that, what software can we use to do this? I understand the new relationship with the new email company that VB has, however checking out their prices shocked me. Large forums it'll cost more than VB each year to run. By a factor of 5 when you count in all the forums. So there must be some better way of doing this?

Can anybody help?

VB Forums are useless for support it seems. And although I have many suites, VB support ticket system people are telling me they can't help as I don't have a suit! lmfao.

Support is like Zero now with VB. And if you have a single mod, or a singe file showing in the file checking thing, they just don't touch your forum. Silly really IMO.

Anyway. hopefully somebody can help here.

This sounds like a server issue, not a vb issue. There is a server forum over on vb.com - you may find some help there. Try searching first because you can't be the first large board with this problem.
