Improved Footer

I'm looking to create a more interesting footer for my site. As my background fades to white at the bottom (sky) I'd like to try and put something at the bottom to contain the page. For example (knocked up in photoshop):

I'd be happy with either (doesn't have to have any info in it like the anime site), and I presume it has to be done through CSS. I am a bit of a CSS newbie (though so far I think I'm doing alright with my site www.dontbeboring.co.uk ). If it's a job that's likely to be way above me with some serious .css coding then that's fine, however, if it's someone has the patience to try and guide me in the right direction then it would be greatly appreciated.

No one can guide me in the right direction to make a footer?
