Reputation Received Notification

Instead of the system sending an anonymous PM to a user when they get a new rep, would it be possible (and if so how) to do one of the following:

1. Change the "From" on the PM from "unregistered" to a specific admin username

2. Not send a PM at all but just put a notification in the notification drop down box.

I've searched trying to find some mod for this and haven't found anything. I know on 3.6 I had it set so that the PM came from the main admin account, and now that I've upgraded to 3.8 it's showing the (reputation received)PM as coming from an unregistered user.
