Subscribe to all subforums

Is there a way (or a mod) to allow users subscribing to a forum to be automatically subscribed to all threads in that forum AND all threads in all subforums of that forum?

It would probably have to be a mod, because having subscribed to a forum the interface would have to subsequently allow you to unsubscribe from various subforums or threads.

I've done a bit of scouring the forums and google but haven't found an answer to this.
