Why is forum not working when domain is transferred?
Hi, I just transferred by domain away from Godaddy to HostMonster and my forum is now not working. All the files are still with GoDaddy, and the domain is now with Hostmonster.
Please suggest some way to restore my forum. I don't want to start all over again. Thank you for your response. |

What did you do to point your domain to your old IP/site?

If you got hosting with host monster you will need to move the entire site to host monster. If you have just transferred your domain name you will need to set your name servers in your godaddy panel to match the host monster name servers.

I use the nameservers given by GoDaddy which are ns53.domaincontrol.com ns54.domaincontrol.com and put them in "custom nameservers" in Hostmonster settings. What else should I do? |

You do realize that sometimes it takes anywhere from 24-72 hours for the dns to catch up and propagate, correct? Did you actually transfer as in tell godaddy you are moving the domain to the other host and tell the host monster host you are moving the domain to them. that can also take up to 72 hours by itself. So you would be looking at possibly about 6 days before it showed up properly.

If Godaddy is where you have the domains registered, you need to point them to your new hosting company's domain servers, not Godaddy's.
