Member Group Avatar

So I would like to change how we currently add site supporter images when a members purchases a subscription. Today what we do is we dont is when a member purchases a subsciption they are moved to a different usergroup with additional right to our site along with giving them a default avatar which says Premium Member, which they can change. What we would like to do is rather then using an avatar we would like to add this image in the postbit automatically when moved to a specific usergroup, this way even though they change their avatar the Premium Member recognition icon is still listed in their postbit.
We currently use the legacy style, if anyone know of an existing plugin to do this or a simple code please let me know, we are also using vb 3.8.x
