Idiot need help creating widget

Hello,

Well the title say it all "Idiot needs help" thats me, my skills are non exsistant so if someone can give me step by step instructions that would be really great.

I am running version 4.06 currently (will upgrade soon) and want a have a recent articles style widget that shows recent videos I have uploaded into the CMS. I have used embed code and loaded videos as static pages, now I would like a widget that I can put on any page to show a selection of recent videos, is this possible. The videos are in different sizes (mainly 500 x 315)on multiple pages in different sections so I would like to select from various sections. If possible I would like them to appear as a smaller thumbnail type size in the widget so I could show say up to 10 recent vidoes that if you clicked on took you to the relevant page.

My second issue is the current recent articles widget, I have set a preview point in the main article that features on the relevant section page which is great but I want a smaller preview or maybe just a heading to appear in the recent articles widget, how difficult is it to customise or make a new widget to do this.

Once again I must stress I am a technical idiot so I really need step by step help here.

I don't understand your comment about the preview on the section. You said you set a preview point and now you want a smaller preview, so why don't you move the preview break to make it smaller?

Hello Lynne,

Thanks for response. The break is fine in the main section but way to long for the widget it means the widget is made very long on the side bar, would be nice to have to settings for different lengths.

I think you would need to edit this line in vbcms/widget/recentarticle.php:

Change the setting to what you want when it is passed.
