Profile Fields and Signatures

Hey guys, I've searched but couldn't find a topic about this for vB4.0 - the 3.6 topic doesn't help much with the new vB coding.

I have a custom profile field set up in place of avatars to display an image. This is all good until someone creates a very short post, which makes the custom field push their signature quite a way down the page.

My question is: how can I prevent this happening? How can I merge the custom profile field area with the empty area below it?
