Multiple people using the same log on information.
Currently a registered user can give his log on information to another person or multiple people and all of them can be on line and logged in at the same time. Does anyone know if there is a plug-in or mod that ties the logged on IP address to their email address. I already filed a feature request that would only allow one user IP address per email address to be logged on per a log on session. I also think we should have an option to block or flag a user who logs on at a different IP address within x (adjustable) minutes.
An alternative would be to have the option of requiring a machine key to use vbulletin. Does anyone have any other ideas on this topic. The problem is it is very hard to prove but I believe I have some users who are doing this. Ken |

Hard to believe that isn't already available somehow. Since this would only be useful for boards that charge (why else would two people share the same account?), you might want to request a paid mod.

Thanks, good idea.

The only problem with that is AOL, their IPs change all the time and make it very difficult to implement this sort of control.

No, you misunderstand. This is a simple request to only allow a user to be logged in from one IP at a time. I don't think even AOL changes IPs on the fly, but if they did, and you were the only one using that username, then you still wouldn't be flagged.
