Prepopulate message box on reply or new thread

I am looking in the newreply template to prepopulate the message field, but it looks like that is being supplied by a variable {vb:raw messagearea}. Does anyone know where this is set or how to otherwise prepopulate the message field.

Here is the snippet of code within the newreply template I am referencing:

You can see I was able to set the title by default by calling a variable I defined called {vb:raw myUniqueTitle}. I would like to do the same for the message field. Any help or hints is greatly appreciated.
