Trace user?
I use Cbox shoutbox with if conditionals where only logged in registered users can post in the shoutbox.
However, there is a troll posting an advertisement to his blog everyday while I'm sleeping, and I have the IPs but nothing shows up in the admin panel by that IP. How do I trace which logged in user it was? When they post in the shoutbox, they can use any username since its not connected / integrated within the VB database. |

If you used template conditionals to make the shoutbox show up or not, that alone wouldn't stop someone from posting in it if the posting script isn't protected. You probably need to make it check when someone posts something.
You're saying when you search the user ips nothing comes up? Then you probably can't find out who it is. |

The shoutbox shows up regardless, but if the registered user is not logged in it shows a message such as "must be logged in to post in shoutbox".

Just block that IP at the server level (in cPanel, Webmin, or through your .htaccess), then wait for someone to email you asking where your forum went to.
