full thread name into the browsers address bar
Hello all!
I have a question about Vbulletin 3.8.4: I would like to see the full topic name into the address bar on top of the browser. I see many Vbulletin forums who have this but i don't have a clue on how to set this up. For example. When i go to my first thread of my forums i see this in my address bar: Code:
http://yourdomain.com/showthread.php?t=1 But i rather see this instead (in my address bar): Code:
http://yourdomain.com/exampleforums/Subject-of-the-thread-here-instead-of-showthread=1 How can i realise this? Thanks in advance! |

Just to expand a little on LocoM's answer- forums that have real words in their addresses use "SEO" (Search Engine Optimization) products. Search Engines give higher rankings to URL's that mention keywords in the address itself so all things equal it's better if you can do this.
VBSEO is probably the most popular way of doing it- it is a major modification and fairly expensive though. I've also heard there are a few mods it doesn't work well with. Since VBSEO is a pay-for modification you have to buy it and download it from their site, not here. There are a couple of other free SEO products that are available here, one of them I think is called "Zoints SEO" - but I have never used it myself. Alternatively if you upgrade to VB 4.x it has these SEO features built in so you wouldn't need to get a separate SEO product if you don't need advanced features. |
