Style changing issue for different sections/forum areas.
Hi All
I've been working on this issue for a few weeks now and I really can't seem to resolve it. i did post in a different thread but seems it might have got missed so sorry for posting again in a new thread :erm: I have made a style that is used throughout the suite, both CMS and forums. I have a different style that I want to use on a different CMS section and have applied that in the section options. This other style has the main site style as the parent style (if that matters). When I go to the site and click on the section with the new style it doesn't show and just carries on showing the main style. This is the same on the forums too. If I apply a different style to a forum section and then go look at the site and that forum area, it doesn't show. ----------------------------- However, if I set this new style as the default style and go and view the site then I do see the style. If I then make the regular style the default style again and then make the new style back to just the sections listed above, it all works correctly. I have no idea what the issue could be to cause those problems. I really want to find out how to fix it. Thanks in advance... |

In CMS you have to see what style is applied to certain category, i think by default it goes to Board defaults which if you havent assigned in Settings > Style and Templates section will show the Board default only.
Try choosing inherit or set the NEW style as your default style in Settings. |

Do you allow users to change styles? Does this style have a checkmark next to it to make it selectable?

Hi Lynne.... Thanks for the post. In the end I put in a support ticket and the vb support team found a bug as a result of what I was trying to do. I have a temporary work around for it but it's not ideal! I have to allow users to be able to change the styles but I only give them access to one style so it wont change. However, this does mean that they can change it back from any new style I set on a section, to the original one.....
Hopefully it will be fixed in a release soon but great that support helped and thanks for trying too as always Lynne |
