This is a remotely hosted solution that seems rather nice and easy to implement.

Step 1. Go To: http://www.spellchecker.net/ and sign up for a free account.

Step 2. Go To: http://www.spellchecker.net/install_...y_text_box.htm and follow the directions.

Here is a brief summary.

1. Add code to head tag right under CSS style sheet
2. Copy some more code next to the submit buttons.
3. Upload a cgi script to your cgi-bin and chmod it 755

Done

Anyhow its easy if anyone needs help let me know.

Brain:

I put this on my board and all works great except it will not return the corrected text back to the textbox. When I try to have the corrected message returned it gives me an error saying that the url could not be found.

I copied the code exactly from UBB except I changed the script to f.message instead of f.ReplyMessage and f.Message that is is used in UBB.

I have written the author of the code but he just wants to look at this program.

Any ideas on anything else to change to get it to work with vBulletin?

Did you upload the cgi script and enter its path in the code?

Yes I did. I just left it were it was in the cgi-bin and pointed to it in the button tag as with UBB.

I wonder...try REPLIER.message in the new reply one.

In the newthread template, you may need to modify the <form> tag:
Code:
<FORM ACTION="newthread.php" name="REPLIER" METHOD="POST" NAME="postthread">
Again, use REPLIER.message .

John:

In the UBB script the form tag is as follows.

<FORM ACTION="postings.cgi" NAME="REPLIER" METHOD="POST">

then in the textarea you have

<TEXTAREA NAME="ReplyMessage" ROWS=20 COLS=60 WRAP="VIRTUAL">$InsertPostMess$ReplyMessage</TEXTAREA>

and the code for the spellchecker is

<INPUT TYPE="BUTTON" VALUE="Spell Check" onclick="var f = document.forms[0]; doSpell( 'en', f.ReplyMessage, document.location.protocol + '//' + document.location.host + '/cgi-bin/spellcheck.cgi', true);">

So the spellcheck uses the Textarea name in its script.

In vB you use:

<TEXTAREA NAME="message" ROWS=20 COLS=60 WRAP="VIRTUAL">$message</TEXTAREA>

so the code for spellcheck would be:

<INPUT TYPE="BUTTON" VALUE="Spell Check" onclick="var f = document.forms[0]; doSpell( 'en', f.message, document.location.protocol + '//' + document.location.host + '/cgi-bin/spellcheck.cgi', true);">

Would maybe changing the name in the textarea to ReplyMessage like what is used in UBB make any difference.
